The day I was born

I remember the day I was born

Yes, I know that sounds like a bunch of baloney. But it’s true, I remember it like it was yesterday……

The day I was born, was March thirtieth, right in the middle of a snowstorm. My Mom and Dad went to the hospital right as it started snowing, at three pm. It was thirty-two  degrees, and very cold. My parents lived twenty minutes from the hospital, and ten minutes into the drive, the snow was falling so thick that you couldn’t see anything in front of you. ( At least that’s what I think, from what I could hear.)

“I can’t see anything!” I hear a guy (who I think was my dad) say nervously, “Why does it have to snow today!”

“I’m so sorry honey, but we have to keep going. Just keep praying that God will give us a safe trip to the hospital.”

“Your right, lets pray right now.”

“Heavenly father, please be with us, as we drive to the hospital,
please be with my wife, give her peace and comfort during this difficult
time…..”

“Difficult? What does he mean by difficult? And who is this heavenly father? I thought the guy talking was my father…..”

That was me talking, well I guess thinking, since I didn’t know how to talk yet.  Anyways, back to the story.

“….this is so confusing!”

“…..In your Name. AMEN”

“Amen” replied mom, right after a really long moan. ” Thanks for that.”

“Thanks for what?” asked the man I thought was my dad.

“Thanks for praying for me. It was very kind of you.” said mom, chuckling.

“Ooh no! That’s not good!” said the guy suddenly.

” What’s no…..”I could hear my mom say.

Then all I could hear was a loud crash, and some other noises that I had never heard before. I could no longer hear my mom or dad’s (at least I think it was my dad’s) voice. A couple of minutes after the crash, I could hear voices again. But they weren’t voices I recognized.

“Oh my goodness, she’s pregnant!” said some woman loudly.

“911?  Yes, there has been a terrible car crash, right in front of Walmart! A man and woman. The woman is pregnant…..No they aren’t responding. Okay….Thank you…Good bye.” said another woman.

After a few minutes I could hear loud and annoying noises.  But then it stopped. And I could hear the voices again. But this time they sounded like two men.

“Please, step aside.” said one of the men, ” Mark! We need two stretchers! Hurry!”

“I’m coming,  Landon!” replied the man they called Mark.

Then I could hear a woman’s voice ” Sir, what about the baby?”

“We are  doing everything we can ma’am.” Replied the Landon guy.

The two men seemed to be doing something though. Because they stopped talking except the occasional, one, two, three. After a minute, or two, I heard  some slamming, and those loud, annoying noises again.

“Can you hear me? What is your name?” said one of the 2 men.

“I don’t think they are going to make it.” said the other man somberly.

“I know, I’m just praying the baby survives. It looks like the mom is in labor though, so there might still be a chance of a healthy baby.”

A couple hours after the loud crashing noises, I could see the world. Though it wasn’t what I imagined, it was full of big gray things that were beeping, and these weird looking creatures of a blueish color.

It was really cold at first, and bright. And then I made a really weird sound. But I kept making the sound because it made me feel better. That night I slept in a cozy little glass crib. Relaxing, after a stressful day.

That was the day I was born, My first day in the world, and the last day with my parents.
